“Itty and Bitty” Book Giveaway

giveawayittybitty3This week’s giveaways are children’s books from one of my favorite series!

We are blessed to live in a really great town and I first discovered the “Itty and Bitty” series at our local bookstore, the Book Carriage. They routinely have guest authors come by to read their latest works. Nancy Carpentar-Czerw, the author of the Itty and Bitty series, brings these really sweet and gentle horses by the bookstore a couple times a year to say “Hi” to their fans.

.

My daughter loves the horses, petting them, talking to them, talking about them for the next week while I like the rhymes in the “Itty and Bitty” books. It is so easy with preschool to focus on the beginning of a word, the first letter of a word, rather than working on words as a whole. The way that Nancy has created her rhymes is great for phonetic learning. I am thrilled she has graciously offered to sponsor this week’s giveaway.

What we are giving away:giveawayittybitty1

  1. Itty & Bitty: Two Miniature Horses, hardcover. This is the first book in the series it introduces these two adorable horses.
  2. Itty & Bitty: On the Road, hardcover. I just love that Nancy is from rural Pennsylvania, we are both transplanted Texans! This book chronicles Itty and Bitty in their travels from Pennsylvania, to New York and home again.
  3. Itty & Bitty: Friends on the Farm, hardcover. This book is my daughter’s favorite. It got lots of farm animals in it, need I say more.
  4. A Toddler-sized T-shirt of Itty & Bitty driving off in a scooter. Sure to put a smile in every preschoolers face – horses aren’t supposed to ride in scooters!
  5. and a lovely tote bag, it has waterproofing and a cup section, making it great for trips out and about.

Check out Itty & Bitty’s website for excerpts from the books and games for your kids to play.

I’m not familiar with this book series. I’m sure my kids would love it. For the longest time my daughter loved to play Caterpillar Race Game. It helps children identify colors and learn about taking turns. We bought ours from discovery toys.

One of our favorite learning activities is reading together. My kids are 2 and 4, and they love to sit on my lap while we read and talk about the story. :) I am always impressed by how much they understand and can remember from the stories.

We haven’t read these books before, but they sound like fun!

  • Stanley Mann said:

The book seams pleasant, however, it would be a bit nicer if it focused around Pennsylvania instead of Texas! We have horses too! :)

We read a huge variety of books including science subjects. My four year old is such a sponge. It’s amazing what they can pick up.

She would love the books. She’s very interested in farm life since visiting one in Sept.

One of our favorite learning activities involves reading and play doh…a favorite right now in our house. We are currently stuck on reading anything that has to do with the alphabet, such as Chicka Chicka Boom Boom or Dr. Seuss ABC. We have alphabet cookie cutters that we take out while going through a book and find matches according to what page we are on, and we always end up making the alphabet with the playdoh. We even try to form the letters without using the cutters. Last week we made our own pumpkin scented playdoh so that incoorporated cooking and measuring into our activity time.
    Thanks for the chance!!

I love book-related activities. Like we’ve been reading The Three Billy Goats book over and over, so we made horns out of construction paper, made finger puppets and play-acted the story, did science experiments with bridges, and tried goat’s milk.

  • Noreen said:

this is going to sound funny but my girls and I play with whatever they are learning at the time, sounds of letters, abc, adding, spellin and so on. The game is I am trying to ‘trick’ them into giving the wrong answer. I am not really tricking them as I give very straight forward problems that they can answer or almost answer. I do pretend that I hope they can’t answer. they are so excited when they get it right so I give them another I pretend I think they can’t answer. By the end they are giggling as I pretend to get more and more frustrated that I can’t trick them.
